MD Supervised Weight Control
Our full weight loss program, delivered by secure video visit. Same physician, same protocol, same expectations — without the drive.
A medical visit, not a web questionnaire
A great deal of what is sold online as “medical weight loss” is a form you fill in and a shipment that arrives. That is not what this is.
A telemedicine visit at Arnold Medical Weight Loss is a real clinical encounter. A licensed clinician reviews your history and your labs, examines what can be examined by video, talks with you about what is actually driving your weight, and gives you specific instruction. Prescription therapy is part of the plan when it is clinically appropriate — and it is not, when it isn't.
The program itself is unchanged from the one we have taught in our office since the 1990s. Telemedicine changes the delivery, not the medicine.
Who this is a good fit for
- Established patients who would rather not drive in for a routine check.
- New patients anywhere in Missouri who live too far from St. Louis to come in regularly.
- Anyone whose work hours make a weekday afternoon appointment hard to reach.
How a telemedicine visit works
Five steps from the first phone call to medication in your hands.
Call or text to schedule
Book by phone at 636-333-2235 during office hours, or text 636-218-8778 any time. We confirm you are eligible, go over the cost, and set a time.
Complete your forms
Fill out the intake packet on this site. It covers your history, medications, family history, nutrition, and consent — and it has to be complete before your visit.
Get your numbers together
You will be asked for a current weight and blood pressure. Bring recent labs from your primary care provider, or we will send a lab request you can take to the draw site of your choice.
Join the video visit
Your visit takes place on 636-218-8778, the same line you can text us on. Join by audio or video from a phone, tablet, or computer — no app to buy, no account to create. A private, well-lit room and a stable connection are all you need.
Plan and medication
You leave the visit with specific dietary instruction and, when appropriate, your medication — dispensed by us and shipped to you insured, with a tracking number emailed the moment it goes out.
Then: a visit every six months
Not monthly. Request refills as you need them — one, two, or three months at a time — and see a health care professional by video every six months for a progress check and any adjustment.
The same program, delivered remotely
- Physician-directed evaluation. Your history, medications, allergies, and labs reviewed by a clinician before any decision about therapy.
- Specific dietary education. The most valuable thing we give you, and the part no shipment can replace.
- Appetite suppressant therapy when indicated. A very effective appetite suppressant medication, prescribed only when you qualify and only with monitoring.
- Medication dispensed by us. One, two, or three months at a time, shipped insured with a tracking number.
- Progress tracking. Weights and measurements reviewed at every visit so the plan gets adjusted to what is actually happening.
- Maintenance planning. Reaching goal weight is the middle of the process, not the end of it.
Coming in, if you want to
Very little of this program now requires you to be in the room. Hands-on examination and in-office vital signs are the exception, and neither is a routine requirement.
New patients may choose an in-person initial visit, and any patient can book one at any time. It is your call, not a condition of treatment.
Cost
Professional fees, prescription costs, and B12 injections are all very reasonably priced. What you pay depends on what you choose — how much medication you take home, and whether you add injections.
Call 636-333-2235 and we will go through it with you before you book. Payment is due at the time of service.
What you need for a virtual visit
A device with a camera
A smartphone, tablet, or laptop with a working camera, microphone, and speaker.
A stable connection
Home internet or a reliable cellular signal. A dropped call in the middle of an exam helps nobody.
A current weight and BP
A home scale reading from that morning, and a blood pressure reading if you have a cuff.
Your medication list
Everything you take, prescription and over the counter, with doses. Your completed intake form covers this.
Telemedicine, answered
Where do I have to be for a telemedicine visit?
In Missouri. Telemedicine is regulated by the state you are physically located in at the time of the visit — not where you live, and not where the clinic is. Dr. Campbell is licensed in Missouri, so virtual visits are for patients located anywhere in Missouri when the appointment starts.
If you are travelling on the day of your appointment, tell us where you will be so we can confirm before you log on.
I live outside Missouri — can I still be a patient?
Yes. What changes is where the visit happens, not whether we can treat you. Patients from other states are seen in person at our St. Louis office, and plenty of people do exactly that — they come to Missouri for the initial workup, then return for refills and follow-up visits.
We cannot conduct the visit by video while you are sitting in another state, but the program itself is open to you. Call 636-333-2235 and we will work out a visit schedule that fits the drive.
Can I get a prescription on the first virtual visit?
Yes. Your health care professional will explain any exceptions at the visit.
Do I need insurance?
No. Payment is due at the time services are rendered. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and CareCredit; we do not accept personal or third-party checks.
How do I get my medication?
From us. Dispensing your medication is part of the service.
Take one, two, or three months at a time, whichever suits you. Anything mailed is insured, and we email the tracking number the moment it goes out.
How do B12 injections work if I never come in?
They are shipped to you. B12 is popular with our patients, and the normal arrangement now is that you give the injection yourself, or someone close to you gives it. We send it in special mailers, which also works out more economical than coming in for each one.
Shipments are insured and you get a tracking number by email when it leaves us. We will show you exactly what to do — nobody is handed a needle and left to work it out.
Is the video visit private?
Yes. Visits are conducted over a HIPAA-compliant video platform, and your health information is handled under the same privacy rules that apply in our office. See our Privacy & HIPAA Notice for the details.
What if I need to be seen in person?
Then we will tell you so. Telemedicine is a good fit for most of this program, but not for everything. If your evaluation suggests you need hands-on examination or a workup we cannot do remotely, we will schedule you at the office at 4163 Crescent Dr., St. Louis, MO 63129.
A note on safety
Telemedicine is not for emergencies. If you are having chest pain, trouble breathing, symptoms of a stroke, or any other medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Do not wait for a scheduled visit.
What have you got to lose — except the weight?
Call the office during business hours, or send a text any time — we pick messages up and get back to you.
